Meta appoints the former CEO of the Salesforce AI division to lead a new organization that builds AI tools for businesses that use Meta’s apps to reach consumers.

The Linkedin Post
“I’m thrilled to share today that I’ve joined Meta to lead a new Business AI group.  Our vision for this new product group is to make cutting-edge AI accessible to every business, empowering all to find success and own their future in the AI era,” Clara writes in her LinkedIn post.

Prospects of the Roll-out
In her LinkedIn Post, Clara talks about Meta’s LLM Llama having quite good numbers in terms of downloads and usage. With the inclinations indicative in her post, Meta is probably trying to come up with something furthering its LLM into the Social Media traction that it has through Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

At the same time, the post also mentions sales and brand building which can be an indication of Meta trying to woo its customers, precisely businesses, on its platform using AI-enabled features contributing to the ongoing AI revolution in tech space.

Meta’s Reply
“We believe these latest advancements in AI represent a significant opportunity for businesses to drive more efficiencies and significantly improve the experiences they offer their customers,” said Meta’s VP and Head of Monetization, John Hegeman, in an emailed statement to TechCrunch. “This new product group under Clara’s leadership will help us bring that vision to life.”

Previous Profile
While Clara had a lucrative profile at Salesforce, not many feathers can be witnessed while she was there in the organization. Her efforts there were not any resounding success, on the other hand in May, Salesforce's shares experienced their largest drop since 2008, primarily driven by investor concerns that the enterprise giant had missed out on the AI boom.

Good Gains Lying Ahead
Shih will have the opportunity to build something new at Meta, a company she authored a book about in 2009 titled “The Facebook Era”.
