Indian Telco has come up with a strategic plan to rejig its top management that includes things from the appointment of a new CEO to various other appointments and changes in leadership roles at various levels.
New CEO
Bharti Airtel has appointed Mr. Shashwat Sharma as the New CEO of Airtel succeeding Mr Gopal Vittal. He will begin his tenure as the New CEO from January 2026 while taking charge of end to end consumer business of Airtel- Mobile, DTH & Broadband (Home)
Current CEO, Future Exec. Vice-Chairman
Mr Gopal Vittal is the current CEO of Airtel, he has been in the position for the last 12 years. He had transitioned from HUL. As Shashwat Sharma prepares to take his position, he will be responsible for training, and grooming him for the top role. Once Mr Sharma takes over the charge, Mr Vittal will be appointed as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Bharti Airtel.
He will also be entrusted with some major overseas responsibilities owing to his appointment to the Board of Airtel Africa Plc. Finally, he will also be responsible for ensuring smooth functioning and performance in network, technology, and talent acquisition.
Airtel’s Growth Under Current Regime
Airtel has seen a growth of up to 40% from 30% in its Revenue Market Share coupled with a fivefold growth in market capitalization taking the company up to $ 100 Billion.
Other Rejigs
Other anticipated Changes include the appointment of Amit Tripathi as Director, of Operations; Siddharth Sharma as Director of Marketing & CEO, of Connected Homes, and Puhspinder Gujraal as CEO & Director, of DTH.
Other Appointments
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, who has been with Airtel for nine years in his current role, will transition to the boards of Indus Towers Limited and Bharti Hexacom Limited. Meanwhile, Rajan Bharti Mittal is returning to Airtel as the Bharti Board nominee, effective immediately, according to the company.
