Anthropic, the maker of ChatGPT rival Claude, raises a fund of $3.5 billion, taking its post-money valuation to $61.5 billion, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Anthropic's Series E fundraising receives participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Cisco Investments, D1 Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures, among other new and existing investors.
The fundraising aims to address Anthropic’s plans to advance its development of next-generation AI systems and expand its computing capacity. Other than these, it will also deepen its research in mechanistic interpretability and alignment, and also accelerate its international expansion.

This comes following the launch of Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Code. Claude 3.7 Sonnet has set a new benchmark in coding capabilities—an area where Anthropic aims to advance further in the coming months. This bolsters the company's aim to develop AI systems that serve as true collaborators, enabling teams to tackle complex projects, synthesize insights across disciplines, and drive significant organizational impact.

As per the announcement by the company, Anthropic’s Claude now powers Alexa+ as part of its ongoing partnership with Amazon to deliver advanced AI technology to businesses and consumers around the world. It will start rolling out in the US markets in the next few weeks, gradually becoming more widely available in the coming months.
