OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, announces the rollout of ChatGPT Search to all GPT users, whether free or paid. The most awaited feature is a combination of web browsing and chatbot, which means an AI chatbot working on behalf of the user to fetch results from the web using its well-trained model.
The search enables the user to get answers quickly and timely with relevant links, free from the hassles of pondering and filtering a plethora of tabs on the browser. This gives the search aspect and LLMs an all-new paradigm enabling a single interface with all needed elements of an ecosystem to facilitate single window operations.
Enabling Search GPT
ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what the user asks, or the user can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon in the chat window. This means you can ask GPT things ranging from the latest score to the latest store, catering to what satisfies you.
Steps of Answers
Stepping aside all the efforts to filter the tabs for the right source and information, SearchGPT allows the user to get fast and right replies for their queries. Taking users’ questions to GPT in a more natural, conversational way, ChatGPT can choose to respond with information from the web. Going deeper with follow-up questions will make ChatGPT consider the full context of the user’s chat to get a better answer.
Engaging and Interactive
The company has incorporated specific graphics for subjects like weather, stocks, and sports into the text generation model to enable more interactive, engaging, and detailed responses to include flags, charts, images, imagery, and symbols.
One such example is the inclusion of Charts when asked about the stock price of Nvidia, check it out below!
What are publishers saying?
“ChatGPT search promises to better highlight and attribute information from trustworthy news sources, benefiting audiences while expanding the reach of publishers like ourselves who produce premium journalism,” says Pam Wasserstein, President, of Vox Media.
The industry seems quite optimistic about the developments unfolding around AI and its impact.
Credibility of Information
The company collaborated extensively with the news industry and took their feedback in true spirit. Its global publisher partners, include Associated Press, Axel Springer, Condé Nast, Dotdash Meredith, Financial Times, GEDI, Hearst, Le Monde, News Corp, Prisa (El País), Reuters, The Atlantic, Time, and Vox Media.
While these are associations for feedback, any website or publisher can choose to appear in the ChatGPT search.
Blurred lines, advancements expected
ChatGPT search connects people with original, high-quality content from the web and makes it part of their conversation. This innovation has given users ways to engage with information in an all-new manner, while content owners stand to gain new opportunities to reach a broader audience. The company hopes to help users discover publishers and websites while bringing more choices to search.
