Elon Musk’s AI venture XAI makes Grok-2, available on X, fee for all, and publicly available with better features like web search, citations, and even an image generator. The new model was launched in August, and since then it’s been under improvements and review for some groundbreaking features. The model is available on X as an in-built feature with a dedicated page to access it.
The model is 3 times faster than the previous models which means improved accuracy, instruction-following, and multi-lingual capabilities, as the blog by XAI states.
Availability
XAI happily announces the free and full availability of its newest AI model integrated with X, open to all the users of X. While it is available for all the X users, the Premium and Premium+ users get higher usage limits and will be the first to access any new capabilities in the future, the blog post categorically mentions.
Search Results
Among the other exciting features, Search Result coupled with Citations is one of the most exciting features. It allows the user to provide real-time updates to users regarding whatever they search any topic utilizing analyzing recent posts on X. Along with the search results it also includes citations to enable the users to check the validity and credibility of the information provided.
Image Generation
Aurora, an image generation model by XAI, is an autoregressive mixture of experts' networks trained to predict the next token from interleaved text and image data. The model has been trained with billions of examples from the internet enabling it to have a better and deeper understanding of the world.
The model can also take images as input and enable the users to have better and greater control over the elements of the images enabling a render of an all-new image based on the input provided by the user. The feature is currently under development and will be available to the users on X, very soon.

Grok Button
Confirming Grok’s co-founder Greg Yang’s announcement that the company is developing a new feature for X called the "Grok button," similar to the like or retweet buttons, this feature will accompany every post on the platform.
On the same line, the blog unveils a Grok button designed to enhance user experience by offering additional information about any post for those who want to learn more. By integrating this functionality, X aims to channel search traffic directly from web browsers to its platform. This move aligns with broader efforts by AI companies to tap into search traffic and capitalize on its growth amid the ongoing AI revolution.
