Elon Musk’s AI startup, XAI, raises $6 Billion in Series C funding from ventures like A16Z, Blackrock, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Kingdom Holdings, Lightspeed, MGX, Morgan Stanley, OIA, QIA, Sequoia Capital, Valor Equity Partners and Vy Capital, amongst others.  

This brings the endeavors possessed by XAI inches closer to reality with the AI venture onboarding participants like Nvidia and AMD.

The funds raised in this round will be utilized to accelerate the development of advanced infrastructure, deliver groundbreaking products that will impact billions of people, and drive research and development of future technologies, aligning with the company’s mission to uncover the true nature of the universe.

Recent explorations of XAI

Following the Series B funding of the company, it has been quite active with many initiatives pushing the boundary of AI usage giving new paradigms to the Human-AI interaction. Some of the significant initiatives include: 

  1. Grok 2: It launched its latest, cutting-edge language model equipped with state-of-the-art reasoning capabilities.
  2. xAI API: The company came up with an XAI API providing developers with programmatic access to our foundation models, built on a custom tech stack that supports multi-region inference deployments, ensuring low-latency access worldwide.
  3. Aurora: The company has recently unveiled this. It is an autoregressive image generation model integrated with Grok, enhancing multimodal understanding, editing, and generation capabilities.
  4. Grok on X: The company came up with Grok on Twitter to harness the X platform to deliver real-time insights into global events. Recent updates include new features like web search, citations, and the Aurora image generator to enrich the user experience on X.
