PM Modi flies to Paris on Monday, 10th February to attend the ongoing 3rd edition of the AI Action Summit as the co-chair, with other world leaders and big tech CEOs also coming for the summit. People like Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, and Sam Altman, Open AI’s CEO, are expected to grace the event with their addresses.  

Its previous editions have already been held in Britain and Seoul in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Interestingly, all this is taking place at a point when India has recently come up with its plans to develop an Indigenous foundational AI model to support major areas like healthcare, agriculture, etc while China is all out with its cheapest, latest, and most updated AI Model- DeepSeek R1.

As the pressure on India grows, for China already has its own foundational AI model, a backlog from the Indian side is loud and clear in the AI ecosystem. This presents a moment of opportunity as well as pressure mandating India to define its position in the global technological space.
