Samsung, a leader in smartphone technology and display manufacturing, is reportedly stepping into the gaming console market. According to a report from 91 Mobiles, the company is developing its handheld gaming consoles, marking a shift from its long-standing role as a supplier of displays for similar devices. A gaming console, which was spotted on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) website, shows a foldable design that has a similar structure to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. The goal of the device is to offer portability, with a foldable design making it easy to carry it everywhere.

The patent indicates that the device will support multiple configurations, allowing it to be used at various angles, including folded, unfolded, side, top, or back positions. Even in its folded state, the device is expected to maintain a slim and compact form factor. Speculation suggests that Samsung may integrate its Flex Hinge technology and Ultra-Thin Glass, features currently utilized in its foldable phones. The console is expected to include integrated gaming controls, such as circular joysticks or D-pads positioned on either side of the device. Additional buttons for various controls may also be located at the bottom.

What’s Next for Samsung’s Gaming Console?

The future of Samsung’s foldable gaming console remains uncertain, but the concept has already garnered significant attention. If brought to market, this innovative device could redefine portable gaming, particularly in cost-conscious regions like India.

In related developments, Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch AR-enabled smart glasses. Expected to debut in the third quarter of 2025, these glasses will feature a lightweight, sunglasses-like design, offering a portable alternative to conventional AR/VR headsets. Positioned to rival Apple’s Vision Pro, Samsung’s AR glasses could mark a significant step forward in wearable technology.
