UBE Corporation has announced its decision to expand the production capacity of high-purity nitric acid at the UBE Chemical Factory in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, to address anticipated future growth in demand. The new equipment construction plan follows the manufacturing equipment expansion earlier in FY2024, aiming to boost production capacity by approximately 30 percent over the current level.
In recent years, the demand for high-purity nitric acid, essential for semiconductor cleaning and etching processes, has been steadily growing. Since beginning production in 1986, UBE has progressively expanded its production capacity to keep pace with the growing semiconductor market both in Japan and internationally, maintaining a strong market share domestically. Anticipating further demand growth driven by advancements in ICT, including generative AI, data centers, and mobility, UBE has decided to further increase its production capacity.
UBE produces stable, high-purity nitric acid essential for semiconductor manufacturing, utilizing its proprietary advanced purification technologies and stringent quality control measures. These high-purity products play a vital role in semiconductor manufacturing processes both in Japan and internationally. To meet the increasing demand for high-purity chemicals driven by societal digitalization, UBE is committed to timely capacity expansion and the growth of its specialty business, including high-purity ammonia water.
