Microsoft Expands in Hyderabad with New Facility and AI Investments
Microsoft inaugurates a new Hyderabad office, creating 4,800 jobs, offering AI training for 1.2 lakh people, and investing Rs 15,000 crore in AI data centres.

Microsoft's latest office was inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli on Thursday, February 13. The expansion is expected to generate around 4,800 job opportunities, further strengthening Hyderabad’s status as a global IT hub. Expressing pride in this milestone, Reddy highlighted the significance of Microsoft’s continued investment in Hyderabad. He stated that having the tech giant establish a second major facility in the city marks a crucial step in the development of the region’s IT sector.

Major AI Investment and Training Initiatives

In addition to the new facility, Microsoft has announced an investment of Rs 15,000 crore in AI data centres in Telangana. Alongside infrastructure expansion, the company will provide artificial intelligence (AI) training to 120,000 individuals, equipping them with skills relevant to the future job market. Speaking at the inauguration, Reddy emphasised the importance of AI in shaping the future. He noted that Microsoft and the Telangana government have partnered to launch ADVANTA(I)GE TELANGANA, a transformative initiative that includes an AI Foundation Academy to upskill students and professionals.

AI Education in Government Schools and Public Services

As part of this collaboration, AI education will be introduced in 500 government schools across Telangana, ensuring students gain early exposure to emerging technologies. Moreover, AI solutions will be integrated into governance and public services, improving efficiency and service delivery. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Microsoft’s expansion will empower the youth, generate employment, and strengthen Telangana’s position as a leading tech-driven state. With 25 years of presence in India, Microsoft continues to drive innovation from Hyderabad, reinforcing its role as a key player in the country’s digital transformation.
