Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the state’s investor-friendly policies and urged Google to explore investment opportunities in the Information Technology (IT) sector. This call for collaboration was made during a meeting with Google India Head Ashish Wattal, emphasizing the potential for technological advancements to drive economic growth in the region.
Exploring AI-Driven Solutions
Ashish Wattal discussed potential collaborations focused on artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance public service delivery in Himachal Pradesh. The proposed initiatives aim to integrate cutting-edge technology in key areas such as digital agriculture, healthcare, education, and grievance redressal systems. These efforts are expected to significantly improve citizens’ quality of life by ensuring faster and more efficient service delivery.
"People Empowerment Platform" to boost employment
Sukhu announced plans to collaborate with Google on developing a "People Empowerment Platform" under the state’s labor and employment department. This digital platform will connect citizens with skilled service providers, including plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, ensuring convenient access to services while creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth in the unorganized sector.
Upgrading helplines with generative AI
The state government intends to enhance the Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline-1100 by integrating generative AI technology. This initiative aims to improve grievance redressal mechanisms by providing faster and more effective solutions, thereby ensuring greater consumer satisfaction.
AI in education and agriculture
As part of its commitment to leveraging modern technology, the government plans to pilot AI-based teaching modules in two government senior secondary schools. In addition, the use of advanced technology in agriculture and disaster preparedness is being explored. Accurate weather forecasting enabled by AI could help minimize losses of life and property by facilitating better planning and timely responses from local authorities.
Committed to technological transformation
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to adopting AI and advanced technology, CM Sukhu emphasized that these initiatives have the potential to revolutionize various sectors, driving efficiency and empowering citizens. He reiterated the government’s focus on creating a tech-driven, people-centric governance model.
