IIT Bombay launches e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-Mobility to shape future EV experts

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced its 18-month e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-Mobility, set to begin in March 2025. The program is tailored for professionals and graduates keen to specialise in electric vehicle (EV) technology, combining academic insights with practical applications. This diploma, developed by IIT Bombay faculty in collaboration with EdTech company Great Learning, offers participants a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on project experience. Graduates will celebrate their accomplishments at a special convocation held at the IIT Bombay campus, where they will also gain alumni status.

Professor Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, highlighted the importance of this program, calling it a transformative step in aligning academic research with industry needs. He emphasised its role in fostering innovation-driven education and bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications.

The diploma program is specifically crafted for early to mid-career professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, and recent graduates. The curriculum covers essential EV concepts, including:

  • Electric vehicle design and battery technology.
  • Electrical drives and power electronics.
  • Practical projects such as vehicle sub-system modelling, battery degradation analysis, and EV charger control systems.

To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a BE/BTech or a four-year BSc/BS degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline.
  • Postgraduates (MTech/MSc/MS) and doctoral candidates in related fields are also eligible.
