Rapido has announced plans to invest Rs 150 crore in the mobility and infrastructure sector in West Bengal. A substantial portion of this investment will focus on enhancing urban mobility, contributing to the state’s transportation ecosystem. The company has formalised its commitment by signing an initial agreement with the state's transport department. Through this partnership, Rapido aims to introduce sustainable transport solutions and improve last-mile connectivity for commuters across the region.

Pink Mobility Initiative: Enhancing Women’s Safety

As part of its investment, Rapido is launching the Pink Mobility Initiative, a program specifically designed to offer safe and comfortable travel options for women. Under this initiative, a dedicated fleet of pink-coloured two-wheelers and four-wheelers will be deployed, operated exclusively by women captains. This effort seeks to create a secure commuting environment for female passengers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to women’s safety.

Rapido’s Growing Presence in Bengal

Currently, Rapido facilitates approximately one lakh rides per day in West Bengal, making it an integral part of the region’s daily transportation landscape. The company’s services have gained widespread adoption, significantly improving connectivity and mobility for commuters.

A Major Push for Electric Mobility

A significant chunk of the Rs 150 crore investment—Rs 130 crore—will be directed towards urban electric mobility initiatives. Rapido plans to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) across Kolkata and other regions, while also developing the necessary infrastructure to support a seamless transition to sustainable transportation. This move aligns with the company’s long-term vision of reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly travel.

Rapido’s Vision for the Future

Highlighting the importance of West Bengal as a key market, Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder of Rapido, emphasised the company’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive transport solutions. He stated, “Our investment in electric mobility and the Pink Mobility fleets reflects our commitment to sustainable and women-friendly transport solutions. We look forward to working closely with the Transport Department of West Bengal to bring these initiatives to life.”
