Mayank Bidawatka, the entrepreneur known for co-founding Koo—India’s answer to X (formerly Twitter)—has successfully raised $4 million in a seed funding round for his latest venture, Billion Hearts Software Technologies. The funding was led by Blume Ventures, with General Catalyst and Athera Venture Partners also participating, as confirmed by the company in a statement.
This seed round followed an earlier angel round of approximately $250,000, which saw participation from prominent industry leaders. Among the investors were Phanindra Sama (ex-co-founder of redBus), Ankit Bhati (ex-co-founder of Ola), Raveen Sastry (ex-co-founder of Myntra), and Piyush Shah (co-founder of InMobi Group).
Several prominent venture capitalists and tech executives also supported the angel round, including Darshit Vora (partner at Acherman Capital), Vibhore Sharma (partner at Capital 2B), Nithin Chandra (director of product management at Facebook), Bhaskar Raju (engineering head at Rattle), and members of the Nizamabad TiE Angels network.
In a LinkedIn post, Bidawatka reflected on the fundraising process, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right partners over merely securing capital. “I’ve always believed that a strong board is as critical as the product, the market, and the team,” he wrote.
He shared that during the fundraising process, the team prioritized aligning with investors who resonated with the company's vision. “We cared more about the colour of the money than the money itself. While having these conversations, we found partners who were genuinely excited about what we’re building. We also respectfully declined funds from some investors who, despite being keen, didn’t share the belief we were looking for,” he added.
Billion Hearts Software Technologies is focused on developing a “digital consumer product” designed for a global audience. While the company has not disclosed specific details, it plans to launch the first product in beta within a few months, initially for a select group of users before opening it to a wider audience who sign up for early access.
