In a welcoming initiative, Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) lay the foundation stone for a modern, state-of-the-art data center. 

Specifics 
The data center will be set up in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. It will be built at the cost of Rs 588 Crore in a time frame of about 2 months, as claimed by the Indian Coast Guard. The cost is inclusive of a 5-year operational expenditure (OPEX) and a 2-year hardware warranty. Most importantly, the tier-3 data center would also be equipped with world-class and reliable security arrangements like a Disaster Recovery site, among others.  

Stakeholders 
The data center is being built for ICG by state-owned TCIL in collaboration with Yotta Infrastructure and Attero, a software solution company making it the very first full-fledged data center for the Indian Coast Guard. 

Scope of Work 
"The project involves digital transformation of the Indian Coast Guard by putting ERP and connecting their 109 offices and 88 ships," Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, TCIL told ETTelecom. A fiber network will be facilitated among the different locations to ensure seamless and smooth connectivity. It will help ICG automate internal processes including finance, HR, and operational modules. 

Significance 
Indian Coast Guard boasts the Highest Employee per revenue and also 5th position among the Central-PSUs earning the highest revenue, it becomes indispensable for it to adopt and exercise new technological development in its practices to ensure efficiency and growth in its fleet. 

Guiding light for others 
As ICG aims for its very first full-fledged data center, it would serve as a model for the Navy and Indian Army to aim for such digital infrastructure. This transformation is vital as well as indispensable as we are faced with the challenges of keeping up with the technological development happening across the world.
