In its latest tweet, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) informs about the network infrastructure deployed in Mahakaumbh to keep visitors fully connected and experience a hassle-free Mahakumbh experience with seamless network connectivity. According to the tweet, 126 km of Optical Fibre, 328 New Mobile towers, and 575 new Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have been installed.
As the Mahakumbh Mela in Praagraj is set to receive groundbreaking footfalls from across the nation and beyond, the agencies have also arranged for around 78 transportable towers and 150 small cells specifically to cater to the network requirements of the visitors.

In addition to network connectivity and towers, DoT plans to set up around 53 help desks in the mela to ensure seamless reporting of mobile phone fraud, theft, blocking, etc. This would contribute greatly to the pleasant and seamless experience of the visitors as redressals will be met then and there without much
struggle.

Efforts by Telcos
Apart from the government authorities, the private telcos have also gone all-out to ensure an unparalleled experience of the Mahakumbh to the people. According to a press release by Airtel, it has installed 287 new sites, optimized over 340 existing sites, and laid an additional 74 kilometers of fiber in the city to enhance mobile coverage.
This marks a significant milestone in Mahakumbh’s network connectivity efforts, achieved through strong collaboration between the government and private companies.
