Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-run telco, has installed new towers in the ice-covered terrain of Morang, Spiti Valley, to increase its 4G connectivity by 12,500 feet. BSNL aims to make its 4G network reach new heights of connectivity and public service by delivering its 4G connectivity to even the blind spots in India’s connectivity landscape.
This marks a major milestone in BSNL’s connectivity efforts and India’s overall approach towards rapid network expansion and facilitating 4G connectivity to the general public at large. Previously it had exhibited a successful installation of 4G connectivity deep into the Thar Desert racing the Jawahar Point to ensure full connectivity to India’s security forces.

BSNL: Budget allocation in 2025-26
The Government of India has allocated INR 33,757 crore to state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in the 2025-26 budget, a significant drop from INR 72,027 crore in FY 2025 and INR 56,785 crore in FY 2024. This capital infusion marks a 53% decline from the revised FY25 allocation.

BSNL: Can It Regain Its Former Glory?
Since June, BSNL’s push to roll out its own 4G network has shown promising results. As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data (January 22), the operator gained a net 6.5 million subscribers—despite a 340,000-user dip in November, following four months of continuous growth.
