Inclusivity and Trust Guide India’s Tech Governance, Says Telecom Minister at MWC 2025, Barcelona
Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted India’s strides in the telecom landscape, including 5G rollout, lowest data tariffs, and indigenous 4G/5G stacks.

Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, India’s Telecom Minister, visited the prestigious World Mobile Congress (WMC), 2025, an annual trade show dedicated to the mobile communications industry. The telecom minister engaged in top-level meetings with CEOs, addressed key sessions, and witnessed major tech innovations showcased by the industry at the event. 

The minister highlighted the nation’s telecom transformation at the event being held in Barcelona, Spain, from 3-6 March, 2025. He highlighted Bharat’s rapid 5G rollout, the world’s lowest data tariffs, the indigenous 4G/5G stacks, and robust cybersecurity measures, to count just a few of the strides. 

WMC, 2025: India’s Tech Governance 

While addressing a key session on 'Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’, the minister highlighted the core ideas powering the nation towards tech governance. He said, “Innovation, inclusivity, sustainability & trust form the core of India’s guiding principles towards tech governance.”

The minister highlighted major milestones of India’s strides in tech governance, including Aadhaar and Bharatnet. He also emphasized the success unlocked by India through these tech instruments.

WMC, 2025: Innovation and Regulation 

While addressing the session on 'Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy’, the minister highlighted the four steps of India’s efforts towards balancing innovation with regulation, such as: 

  1. Spectrum Management 
  2. Ensuring Market Stability 
  3. Introducing Telecom Regulation to Ease up Various Processes 
  4. Bringing Cybersecurity Measures for Consumer Protection.

WMC, 2025: Inauguration of Bharat Pavilion 

During the MWC 2025 visit, the minister unveiled the curtains of the India Mobile Congress 2025 and inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion organized by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) with the support of the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. It featured 38 Indian telecom equipment manufacturers showcasing their state-of-the-art solutions—hardware and software.

WMC, 2025: Meeting with Private Bodies

The minister visited the booth of Meta and Google Cloud, catching a glimpse of their various technological solutions. As part of the visit, the minister interacted with top industry leaders from major companies like Qualcomm, Cisco, Mavenir, Ericsson, Nokia, AMD, AT&T, Airtel, BSNL, C-DOT, and TEPC during dinner with CEOs. This will enable India's telecom landscape to access strategic partnerships and innovation.
