Under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Creative Play Lab (CPL) of the LEGO Group. This collaboration falls under the project titled 'Development of Electronics and IT-based Control and Automation Solutions for Consumer Electronic Goods (Toy Industry).'

Fostering Innovation in Indigenous Toy Development

This initiative is designed to support the growth of India's electronic toy industry by fostering research and development. It aims to equip young Indian engineers, especially those from marginalised communities, with hands-on skills to design and develop innovative electronic toys. The project aligns with MeitY’s vision of strengthening the domestic toy industry through advanced technology and automation solutions.

Empowering Young Engineers Through R&D and Training

Under this initiative, young engineers from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and North Eastern Region (NER) backgrounds are selected from across India. They undergo a one-year research and development program, starting with six months of hands-on training in toy design and development at CDAC-Noida’s dedicated toy labs. Following this, they receive six months of industry training where they work on developing toy prototypes aligned with market needs.

Prestigious Event Marks the Collaboration

The signing event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY; Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY; Sunita Verma, GC R&D, MeitY; Vivek Khaneja, Executive Director, CDAC-Noida; Colette Burke, Global Chief Commercial Officer of the LEGO Group, Denmark; and Claus Kristensen, Senior Vice President of APAC Market Group, Singapore.
