Airtel has released its spam report, 2.5 months after the launch of its AI-powered spam blocking mechanism. It has claimed that its system has successfully blocked a staggering 8 billion spam calls, and 0.8 billion SMSes along with identifying around 1 million spammers every day. It has been proven particularly beneficial in alerting customers regarding the identity of unknown callers to prevent any unforeseen situations.
According to the report published by Airtel, it has alerted around 252 Million unique customers of suspicious calls and has reported around a 12 percent decline in the number of customers responding to them. This indicates a positive shift in the telecom ecosystem, enabling the customers to have the last laugh while being equipped with a good deal of info regarding the identity of the caller.
Which region received the highest number of Spam Calls?
Customers in Delhi have received the highest Spam Calls followed by Andhra Pradesh and Western Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, Delhi is also the location that has made most of the Spam Calls followed by Mumbai and Karnataka.
Spam activity
As per the data recorded by Airtel’s AI-powered spam blocking mechanism, the hourly distribution of the spam activity is the most interesting part. Spam calls start at 9 am and increase throughout the day, reaching their peak between noon and 3 pm, when the highest volume of calls is observed. Devices priced between 15,000 and 20,000 rupees receive about 22 percent of all spam calls.
Additionally, 6 percent of all calls on Airtel’s network have been identified as spam calls, while 2 percent of all the SMSes have been reported as so.
